CARIVIBE BEACH & FOOD FESTIVAL GATES OPEN AT 12:00PM

Join us at Petrie Island for Ottawa’s most extravagant Caribbean beach festival. Thousands of people of all ages will enjoy over 11 hours of non-stop entertainment and plenty of Caribbean cuisine. There will be a licensed tent for adults, an all-ages section for teens and a Kiddies Carnival area for Children, filled with bouncy rides, inflatables and games.

It’s Carnival season…are you ready for CARIVIBE 2016?
Here are some FAQ’S and answers to get you prepared to REACH THE BEACH!

 

1. WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CARIVIBE?

Five most important things to bring with you are:

Water: Drink plenty of water and stay in the shade to avoid heat stroke. Check the weather forecast for frequent updates.

Shades: UV rays are very harmful; please wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Umbrella: Rain or shine, an umbrella will come in handy.

Camera: Capture everything Carivibe has to offer, from the colourful costumes to the energetic performances, you won’t want to miss a moment!

Fold up chairs or blanket: There will be limited seating at the parade and beach festival, in order to relieve your fatigued feet after all the jumping and dancing, a chair is recommended!

 

2. CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD & ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO THE BEACH?

No. Neither food nor alcoholic beverages will be permitted. There will be food available for purchase as well as a licensed cash bar. *** Glass of any kind WILL NOT be permitted on the beach. (Exceptions will be made for parents with young infants)

 

3. IS THERE A SHUTTLE AVAILABLE FOR THE BEACH FESTIVAL?

Yes. Take advantage of the shuttle service that will take you straight to the CARIVIBE BEACH FESTIVAL on PETRIE ISLAND.

Here are 2 easy ways to get to the beach!

OPTION 1 – Park and Ride (Trim Road and Hwy 174

Feel free to park your vehicle at the Park and Ride (location above) and take our shuttle bus provided by OC Transpo straight to the beach. Please note that parking is limited at this location to approximately 600 vehicles; please get there early to secure your spot!The shuttle bus will be running directly to Petrie Island and back, all day from 12pm to 8pm.

OPTION 2 – Regular OC Transpo Bus Route #122

For those of you that would like to take public transportation, the #122 bus route is a quick and convenient way to get you to the beach. It leaves from Place D’Orleans Mall and travels to the corner of North Service Road and Trim Road, where you can get off and walk to Petrie Island.

If you happen to live further down Trim Road, you can also catch the #122 from the Millenium Station on Trim, limited parking available. It will drop you off at North Service Road and Trim Road, just a few minutes from the beach.

Please note that regular bus route fares do apply for the #122. Acceptable forms of payment are a Student Bus Pass, Adult Bus Pass and bus tickets that you can purchase at the many local OC Transpo bus stations across Ottawa.

Bus ticket pricing: Tickets: $1.30/ each. Adults: $3.30 or 2 tickets. Child (ages 6-12) $1.50 or 1 ticket.

4. WHERE CAN I PARK?

Trim and Highway 174 (at the OC Transpo Park and Ride)

North Service Road, Please be sure to pay attention to the parking signs to avoid being ticketed by the city.
